My outstretched fingertips are desperate for your hand. When I step toward you, somehow the distance grows between us. Though I tried to call your name, you turned away from me. You and I walk different paths now... I have been lying to you. I know you hate lies, but please forgive me just this once. I told you I'm fine and life is alright. But you don't know all the tears on my pillow, the times I wanted you to hug me, the pictures I found of you, or how much I wanted to pick up the phone.
I could only find you in my dreams. They gave me some peace while they lasted, but I began every morning with a newly broken heart.
